Framework M Software Foundation

The Framework M Software Foundation is an independent, non-profit company (Company limited by shares under Section 8 of the Companies Act, 2013, India) established to serve as the legal, financial, and operational steward of Framework M.

Mission & Purpose

Our mission is to ensure that Framework M remains an open, vendor-neutral, enterprise-grade application framework for building scalable, metadata-driven software.

  • Build Once. Scale Forever. We provide a permanent home for the core codebase, CLI tooling, and studio utilities.
  • Vendor Neutrality: No single commercial vendor controls the intellectual property, trademarks, or architectural roadmap of Framework M.
  • Enterprise Guardrails: Guiding open-source development with strict commitments to security, multi-tenant isolation, and data sovereignty.

Why a Section 8 Non-Profit?

Incorporating as a dedicated Section 8 non-profit guarantees long-term sustainability:

  1. Protected Intellectual Property: Core framework assets, trademarks, and documentation are held by the Foundation for the benefit of the community.
  2. Open Governance: Architectural and roadmap decisions are made transparently by the Technical Steering Committee (TSC) and maintainers.
  3. Operational Stability: Providing dedicated infrastructure, security scanning, release management, and legal compliance.

Transition & Asset Holding

The Foundation is currently transitioning operational infrastructure under dedicated frameworkm.dev accounts:

  • Monorepo & GitLab project ownership
  • frameworkm.dev domain names & SSL certificates
  • Trademark registration for Framework M, FrameworkM, and associated marks
